No matter how hard I try, I never seem to stay on track when it comes to weight loss goals. Give me a paper project or a goal of any other kind and I will succeed. Yet, tending to my own health is not an area I excel in.
Last week, I told you that I had joined a 7 week faith and fitness program that helps with setting goals for healthy eating and fitness. The program is not the problem. I’m not necessarily the problem. It’s my foundation that is the problem.
I have realized this week that I am not spiritually grounded.
What does being spiritually grounded have to do with setting goals for healthy eating and fitness?
Plenty! Until I am leaning on him for strength in this area, I will not succeed. I lean on Him in other areas of my life and do great! I also need to accept His grace when I have a less than perfect day which is most days, right?
Why should it be any different with my physical needs and goals?
It shouldn’t! I am committing to spending more time in prayer over my health. I am also recommitting to a daily time in God’s Word in addition to the Scripture I read in my current book study.
It may seem simple to you. It may seem unnecessary to you. I know it has for me up until recently.
Faithful Finish Lines brought this simple necessary step to my attention with their daily emails that include Scripture! I may be behind on their weekly assignments, but that’s okay. This program is so awesome because they show God’s love and grace in how this program is set up. You are not behind as long as you are moving in the right direction. I am looking forward to sharing with you more about this next week.
