Blogger vs. Audience: Who’s Your Ideal Reader?

March 13

Keyword searches, target audience, niches. If you’re a blogger then these words may mean something to you.

I read over and over about the importance of keyword searches, having a specific niche and target audience, and so many other rules that I can’t keep up. While I know that all of this is important, it can cause havoc on your writing altogether. I have struggled with this so much that my writing has came to a screeching halt. Have you noticed? You probably have heard crickets waiting for me to deliver another blog post to you.

So, I decided I’d describe my idea reader as the blogging workbooks suggest. What is she or he like?

Your Ideal Reader - This Mom's Delight

Today I’m sharing my ideal reader to you. Hopefully you’ll find something in common with her and will stick around for the blog posts written with her in mind. Just think, you and her might become best of friends.

My Ideal Reader

Although my ideal reader is delighted in motherhood and reading good books, there’s more to this girl and I’d like to you meet her.

My ideal reader has been married 19 years but doesn’t always act as mature as a woman her age should. She may not always fight {argue} fair, but she loves her guy and can’t imagine life without him.)

My ideal has three children. While she’s trying to survive raising two teenagers, she also is playing in the floor with her toddler.

My ideal reader has a job. While she’s always worked outside the home there is a heavy desire to find a way to homeschool her little guy when it’s time. That means finding another way to supplement hubby’s income whether it’s at home with the toddler or opposite dad’s work schedule. It also means finding creative ways to spend less and save more. {Join me as I take this journey to see if I make it home.}

My ideal reader has a love for books. Oh, how she loves to read, mostly to find ways to improve the many roles and aspects of her life, but also to get away to a historical time where the ladies wore big dresses. {Have you read “Here Burns My Candle“? I love it!}

My idea reader has a love/hate relationship with the idea of a healthy lifestyle. While she would love to be healthy and get rid of the extra weight, she has bombed when it comes to giving up her favorite junk food and having to go outdoors to exert some energy. She hasn’t given up on the idea though, so maybe, just maybe, someday soon she will get her act together and shed some of those unhealthy pounds.

My idea reader has a burden to reach out to and love the unloved, namely foster children and troubled youth. She hasn’t found a way to do it just yet with her limited funds and time but she’s prayerful that God will show her what to do.

My idea reader has a love for giveaways. Who doesn’t love getting something for free, whether it be a household necessity, say free groceries, or something for her entertainment, like a new book!

This reader I’ve described is me. Yes, me. The year 2015 is about living a life I absolutely love. I love writing what’s on my heart and that’s what I will be doing from now on. By then end of the year I’ll be able to look back and see exactly where my passion is and what direction my blog should take next.

I hope you will join me and share yourself and your passions, too.

While you’re here tell me which part of this ideal reader you relate to. Are you married? Do you have a kiddo or two? Do you love books? Are you a a wanna be fit but, or maybe you’re experienced and can be my inspiration this year?

    Yes, yes momma I can relate to your ideal reader! I am a momma, check. I am a wife (of 12 years) check. I love good books, check. Homeschooling momma by day and blogger by night. Strong desire to be healthy, just not, check. Right?! Who doesn’t love free stuff. Keep the crickets off your blog and take the toddler fishing with them (if you are into that sort of thing). HAHA! Look forward to more posts by you since I am a subscriber now, OH YEAH!!! #laceyslegacy

    My ideal reader and your ideal reader are so different – I love it! Which I guess means I love you, which is weird, but hey we bloggers need to stick together lol.

    You sound like my ideal reader and I can totally relate to your love-hate relationship with healthy living. I too have a problem letting go of my Coke or Dr. Pepper and I can’t forget my chocolate chip ice cream! 🙂

    Great post!

    Yes, I do have some things in common with your ideal reader. I also have a love/hate relationship with a healthy lifestyle all though I want to improve. I have also considered homeschooling my children on multiple occasions.

    Although married for only 2 years, other than that I fit your description. Especially the love of freebies part 😉
