Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin
I definitely enjoyed a wild adventure with this book! The main character went from reading about adventure to living it! She got more than she bargained for when she made a trip to deliver some books. I thought I knew how the book would end, then a few twists and turns would have me guessing again. I still haven’t decided who was my favorite character, Allie, Mack or Lillie. Lillie was the most unique, while Allie was the most changed, and Mack was, um you can find out when you read the book.
While I’m not usually one to read mystery, this book really kept me intrigued. It had a little romance and lots of unpredictability within its pages. Lynn Austin is being added to my list of favorite authors!
Book Summary from Bethany House Publishers
I was perfectly content with my life–that is, until the pages of my story were ripped out before I had a chance to live happily ever after.
Alice Grace Ripley lives in a dream world, her nose stuck in a book. But the happily-ever-after life she’s planned on suddenly falls apart when her boyfriend breaks up with her, accusing her of living in a world of fiction instead of the real one. To top it off, Alice loses her beloved library job because of cutbacks due to the Great Depression.
Longing to run from small-town gossip, Alice flees to the mountains of eastern Kentucky to deliver five boxes of donated books to the tiny coal-mining town of Acorn, a place with no running water, no electricity, and where the librarians ride ornery horses up steep mountain passes to deliver books. When Alice is forced to stay in Acorn far longer than she planned, she discovers that real-life adventure, mystery–and especially romance–may be far better than her humble dreams could have imagined.
Lynn Austin, a former teacher who now writes and speaks full time, has won seven Christy Awards for her historical fiction. One of those novels, Hidden Places, has also been made into a Hallmark Channel movie. Lynn and her husband have raised three children and make their home near Chicago, Illinois. Tell me: Who is your favorite author? Do you normally read mystery or romance fiction? Modern day or historical fiction?
Disclosure: I received a copy of the book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

My favorite fiction author is Karen Kingsbury. I do read a lot of non-fiction, but when I read fiction, I like romance fiction (the clean stuff) and usually modern day fiction. This book does look interesting though. I might have to check it out.
@Sarah Ewing, I’ve heard of her, but don’t think I’ve read anything of hers. Does she write anything in the 1800’s? That’s my favorite era!
