For as long as I can remember, I have read only from the King James Version (KJV) Bible. I read it because I trusted it, but I also read it as a rule book. I searched it for what I should be doing or not be doing. I am a rule follower by nature in my Bible reading and in my life, both personal and work. I can almost say, looking back, I had become legalistic with all the rules (both given to me by various authorities in life and self-imposed). I even failed numerous times at trying to read my entire Bible.

Then something I read last year made me realize just how wrong my approach was. I even failed numerous times at trying to read my entire Bible cover to cover in a given year. I was rushing to get the pages read, not taking time to digest anything I read. I wanted more. I wanted to know God. I wanted to know His character, His hear, and why, why, why He would choose to love someone like me.
So, I started reading my beloved KJV at a slower pace. I also decided to read from other translations to compare verses, because honestly, sometimes I just don’t understand what I’m reading. That’s where the brand-new CSB Women’s Study Bible has been a great help in bridging the ancient text with my modern heart, capturing the original meaning and giving me more clarity.
Disclosure: Thanks to Lifeway Christian Resources for providing a copy of this Bible for myself and for the giveaway. All opinions are my own.
What makes this Bible special?

It’s a study tool. Here’s what has been especially helpful for me:
- Verse-by-verse study notes that explain the context of what you’re reading.
- Word studies that clarify meaning without speculation
- Profiles of women in the Bible and devotional content that makes the stories feel alive.
- Timelines, maps, and charts placed right where you need them
- Devotional-style insights that help connect truth to daily life
What I appreciate most is that the notes help me observe Scripture more carefully instead of telling me what to think.
How I’m Using it With My KJV
I haven’t thrown my KJV out. Instead, I’m continuing with more than one translation, but not all of them.
- First, I read from the KJV.
- Then, I read the same passage in the CSB, as well as the study notes that help me to understand the context, people and themes.
- Finally, I write what I’m learning about God Himself, and any other interesting discoveries I make.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve always read one translation because you felt like that’s what you’re supposed to do, but you’re longing to truly know God more deeply through His Word, this Bible may be a helpful companion. It may even become your preferred translation over time. This resource meets you where you are and helps you go deeper. You can learn more or order your copy at CSBWomensStudyBible.com or wherever Bibles are sold, like Amazon or Christian Book Distributors.

Lastly, my favourite feature has to be that beautiful cover!
My favorite feature of the CSB Women’s Study Bible is that it’s written in a way that will help me understand what I read better.
Hi Tami! I haven’t used the CSB version before but it seems similar to ESV, which is what our pastor uses at church and it is rather clear. The cover of this one is gorgeous!
I think this is a lovely Bible. I like the devotional style that connects to daily life. Thank you for the opportunity to win.
I love that there is verse by verse study notes. I was just telling a friend recently that I struggle with doing a year through the bible because I get bored and I can’t comprehend what I’m reading when I’m bored with it. I think the study notes would allow me to break away from reading scripture to fully grasp what I’m reading.
I’m excited for the Timelines, maps, and charts placed right where you need them – because I can never find the map I want or feel like I have the time to go find the right one.
I like the word studies feature.
My favorite part of the CSB Bible is the Word Studies because it will help me understand more of what I am reading and how it applies to my life today.
