The Stray: A True Story #MovieTickets #Giveaway

I have children ranging in ages from 21 years old to 4 years old. While I get plenty of time with the youngest, who is being homeschooled, I seem to get less quality time with the older two.  My husband and I had the opportunity to leave the youngest with his grandmother while the rest of us went out to a movie. I really enjoyed the time watching a movie and having dinner together.

Watching The Movie

Disclosure: I received 4 tickets for my family to view the movie. I have shared my full honest opinion. I would have paid for tickets to see this movie had I not received them. If you’d like free tickets, continue reading.

We usually watch movies of this nature with our church friends, whether it’s at the church on a Wednesday night or in the theaters on a Sunday afternoon. It’s quality time, for sure. This time, it was just the family (and one tag along…the boyfriend). The movie was worth the hour drive and the anticipated wait.

One of my favorite actress, Sarah Lancaster, played the mom. She has such a sweet demeanor and played the loving wife and mom perfectly. I did not recognize the actor, Michael Cassidy, who played the crazy busy father in the movie.

Also, in the movie were the three children and a stray dog that comes into their lives. I felt like the dog was a part of my life, too, if only for an afternoon. He was such a loyal companion, if not more. It’s a tear-jerker, but it comes in small doses throughout the movie. There is a scene that I did not care for, only because it’s the one that made me cry the most. However, it was relevant to the story and what truly happened to the real family this movie is based on.

You will walk out of the movie theater loving this family … and their dog.

About the Movie

The Stray tells the inspiring true story of a stray dog, “Pluto,” who appears from out of nowhere just in time to save a family that is falling apart. Pluto is not only a guard dog – he’s a guardian angel. Sometimes help comes in the most unlikely forms. Sometimes prayers are answered in the most unlikely ways. Sometimes one dog can change everything. Written, and directed by Mitch Davis (The Other Side of Heaven), the movie releases in select markets nationwide October 6, 2017.

The Dinner

We had plans to celebrate my daughter’s 19th birthday. The movie happened to premiere the same weekend we were going out. We treated daughter to some Mexican food. My daughter then enjoyed her free birthday dessert (pictured below). It helped dry up the tears she experienced during the movie.
