50 Pieces of Gratitude

50-pieces-of-gratitude

It’s easy to say we’re thankful for our families, our health and our jobs.   It takes more brain power to really look beyond the obvious and see in detail all we do have to be thankful for.    That’s what sincere gratitude is all about. It’s then and only then, we will really begin to appreciate the things in our lives and love them for all they are.    For example,  I am thankful for my health, yet I don’t really live as though I do.    I must look deeper and see that if I continue drinking the sugary caffeinated substance they called pop, I could develop diabetes.  I could go on… 50-pieces-of-gratitude I want to dig deep and see how I can truly be grateful for things, such as my health, instead of taking advantage of those things later regretting what I abused and took for advantage. This can apply to every aspect of your life.   Think about the intrusive mother who may not live another 10 years.   What about that mouthy child you didn’t hug before you took her to school?   You are guaranteed a specific amount of time with her.   Make your way to work and realize you just lost an employee (or co-worker) to another job offer because you made their days at work miserable. Just think, if I change my heart toward those things in my life, won’t my attitude and appreciate change, too?

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. – Matthew 6:21

I really want to make live a life of gratitude this year.   I will be sharing a piece of my life that deserves gratitude, each week for the remainder of 2014, {hence 50 pieces}.  Will you join me?

Leave your blog post link and/or a comment sharing something your Piece of Gratitude, that one thing you have taken for granted, but needs your love and appreciation.

  1. My family. I don’t always take them for granted, but some days I do. The reality is they could be gone in any minute…you just don’t know. So I need to embrace every moment with them.

  3. A life of gratitude is a happy one. I tend to dedicate my actions to something so that I can remember that not everyone is as lucky as I am to do all the things I am able to do. Good luck on your gratitude conscious journey

  7. What a fantastic idea!! I actually chose gratitude as my “word” for last year, and grew so much in that area (not that I still don’t struggle…). It really makes a HUGE difference in our mindsets!!

My “one piece” would be my health. Because I have a long-term chronic illness that has completely changed my life, and that has daily side effects which wear me out (literally). But God keeps showing me how much “good health” I really do have, despite the illness. There is so much that I have physical capacity to handle, so much “normal” life I can do…. so much to be thankful for!

And I’m also thankful that you linked up before me at Fellowship Fridays! This was such a blessing. 🙂
