God is the Wonderful Creator – you know that. Did you know that there is a series of wonderful books on God + Science for kiddos? They are perfect for kids ages 6-10. They can be used as a family devotion, a casual reading or as part of your homeschool curriculum. My youngest is homeschooled so of course, we’ve been using them in that aspect. Since my grandchildren are not homeschooled, so will enjoy them casually as they get older and stay with Gram — (that’s me).

The pages are visually appealing, keeping my son’s attention while I read about God and science. The books are suitable for a child to read on his own or be listen to as mom or dad read.
First we read, Indescribable.
Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God & Science
I want to teach my son about science – true science, not evolution or any man made ideas. When I received the complimentary copies of these books, I was very impressed. All three have beautiful illustrations to go with the wonderful facts about science – and the creator of it all. In Indescribable, I love the image of God the author creates for me: “…Think about God as a scientist in a lab coat.”
I have been reading the devotions to my son everyday and I’m learning alongside him. Do you know how a starfish eats? It is quite amazing. Look it up! After I read, we use the prayer prompt to begin our short prayer time together.
In the front of the book is an index of the four major topics: space, earth, animals and people. You can read them by topic or in the order they are written in the book. We are starting with animals, then going back through the people devotions. Space and earth will follow.
This book is a wonderful way to encourage a love for reading and science.

Psalm 19:1 says,
“The heavens tell the glory of God. And the skies announce what his hands have made.” It’s impossible to out-imagine God. How Great Is Our God: 100 Indescribable Devotions About God & Science
“As you read, remember that the same God who made you and knows everything about you is inviting you to know and learn about Him” – Louie Giglio
My requirement for any science books in our home must be that the teach God’s truth. My son’s requirement for any book is that it has to be captivating topic. This book meets of our expectations. A favorite devotion was about burping. Yes, there’s science in that fun topic.
This second book of the set has an index. That made it so much easier to find a topic he was interested in reading about. For instance, he wanted to study glaciers, so we read a devotional about it on page 122, then watched a few videos on the subject. We took this approach, rather than reading straight through like we did with first book. As a result, we went on a lot of nature walks. We even went snake hunting after reading a devotional about one.
It includes scripture from various translations of the Bible and the devotions we’ve read have been biblically accurate. Each devotional is only two pages. As a result, you won’t bore your kiddo. My kid does interrupt to ask questions while I’m reading. We’re working on that.
I love that my son is seeing the connection that God has with nature.

Follow-up to the bestselling Indescribable. And most recently we read…
The Wonder of Creation: 100 More Devotions About God and Science
When you start a good thing, why stop? This third book in the series doesn’t disappoint. My son was excited to find the complimentary copy in the mail.
I wasn’t excited, though because it looks like we are going on another snake hunt!

On a more serious note, this book is just as awesome as the previous two. This one is indexed, like the second book, and has so many fun topics for my son to explore. I almost bought a science curriculum, but these books are perfect for this season. We are learning about God, all of His creation, and even some heart issues to discuss like fear and obedience.
Be creative with the way you read these God and science books. We did! We read a God and science devotional every day from Indescribable. In How Great is Our God, my son chose a science topic of interest every day until we read almost the entire book. This time, we are going to continue reading one devotional about God and science every Monday from The Wonder of Creation, memorizing the included Bible verse all week long. We will also read additional books on the same topic and do a fun activity centered around that week’s topic.
