1. Pray to God.
Spend a few minutes talking to God. First, ask for his forgiveness for those sins you need to confess. Then, ask for understanding of what you’re about to read.
2. Read the Bible.
Remember when I said you should make time- and life-management books your first choice genre if you have no time for anything else? While, I still encourage you to do that, I recommend first and fore most that you read your Bible daily, even if it’s just 5 minutes. Psalms and Proverbs are a great place to start. I’m currently studying about the Proverbs 31 woman using the Thirty Days in Proverbs 31 (Bible Study for Busy Mamas. I highly recommend it. I’m learning how to research the meanings of words, as well as learning more about the Proverbs 31 woman. It doesn’t take too much time, either.
Commit to reading for 5 minutes — set a timer — or commit to reading one chapter. It’s your choice, but don’t let the decision keep you from acting. When you I stray from this special time with God, life seems more complicated and decision-making isn’t as easy. Read something – anything – from His Word today, and tomorrow, and the next day.
3. Listen for to God now.
Now that you’ve read some instruction and encouragement from His Word, pray again, asking how you can use this Scripture in your life and for his guidance throughout the day and in any decisions you’ll have to make.
4. Listen for God throughout the day.
This is where the Holy Spirit really works. As you go through your day, making decisions and having to respond to situations, you will be nudged (convicted) by the Holy Spirit with perfectly-timed guidance and conviction.
- Spending time with God provides peace in a chaotic world. The bible can really calm an anxious and tired mom.
- Spending time with God results in guidance, as mentioned above with the Holy Spirit guiding you throughout your day, bringing to mind Scripture you need at that precise moment.
- Spending time with God helps you see aggravating and difficult situations, including that argument with your husband, in a better perspective, allowing you to respond in a more Christ-like manner.
- Spending time with God provides a great example to your children who are watching.

This is great advice for all moms I think! I know that my day goes much better when I’ve taken some time with God. It can be hard to find the time to do it, but it definitely needs to be a priority like eating and sleeping.
Thank you for always suggesting books in your posts. I don’t research or look for books. I usually just read what is recommended. I really appreciate that!
Great advice! My favorite way to spend time with Him is through worship. It helps me connect and listen to His voice. 🙂
Thank you for stopping by my blog. You have a great blog going on here! Look forward to reading it.
I always feel more connected when I intentionally set aside time daily for prayer and scripture reading. Thanks for reminding me that I should be doing it daily.

I enjoyed the posts at the Pinterest party. Thanks for the pin.
I saw your linked post on Missional Women – Faith Filled Friday. I totally agree that God should be the one in charge of our lives and our marriages. It’s interesting how many Christians don’t understand or know how to tap into the leading of the Holy Spirit. Thanks for sharing! I’m now following you on Twitter and Pinterest. My weekend linky is now live on one of my blogs if you want to join.

I really enjoyed how you brought such a good balance especially in talking about prayer. Both spend quality time talking to The Lord but also throughout the day. Thanks
@Laura ~ Thank you! I do have to admit, I don’t follow my own plan for spending time the God to perfection. It is beneficial to my soul and attitude when I do though!
