Is God Real? For Teens — A Mom’s Honest Review

I recently pre-read Is God Real? For Teens by Lee Strobel to decide if I want to share it with my 13 year old autistic son. — and I definitely do. Even though it’s written with teens in mind, it’s a solid, simple introduction to apologetics for anyone who wants to understand why we believe what we believe.

Strobel answers the kinds of questions teens actually ask:

❓ If God is real, why is there suffering?
❓ If God is real, why is he so hidden?

He weaves together science, history, logic, and witness experiences in a way that feels conversational and easy to follow.  As a Christian mom whose top priority is preparing my child for eternity and building a steady, Biblical foundation, this book gives us a tool to spark deeper conversations about faith—without dumbing anything down.  The evidence provided in the book is enough to convince a doubting teen that God is real.

This book is definitely staying on our shelf, and I plan to go through it slowly with my son as part of our discipleship time.

Who This Book Is For

  • Parents who want a simple, trustworthy apologetics resource
  • Teens with big questions
  • Homeschooling families looking for weekly apologetics reading
  • Grandparents wanting to encourage faith
  • Anyone new to apologetics who wants a gentle introduction

How We’re Using It

My plan is to read one short chapter a week during our discipleship time. I can already see us reusing this book as he gets older and starts asking deeper questions. This is a resource I’m truly glad to have on our shelf—one that helps equip my son with confidence, clarity, and evidence for the faith we’re building together. I will even share it with with my grandkids; maybe their parents will even read it now to answer any questions of doubt they have.
